How to care for your Humphries & Begg clothing
Our products are made in small batches by our production partners in India using the highest quality 100% natural fibres, many items are made from block printed fabric which gives them their unique, handcrafted nature. By taking a little extra care of your garments they will last longer and keep their vibrant colours.
We believe that Humphries and Begg clothing should be worn often and washed less. An ethos that will not only benefit the environment but likely the rest of your wardrobe too.
Our recommendations are as follows:

Wash the majority (see note below) of our products on a cold wash machine cycle at 20C maximum on a delicate setting, or similar. Most standard washing machines have the option to easily reduce the temperature.

Always wash items inside out.

Use natural / eco friendly washing detergent where possible, and try to avoid fabric softener.
- A few products, such as our heavier jackets, coats & wool waistcoats or pieces that are heavily embroidered, should be dry cleaned only. This will be specified in the item’s description.
- If possible spot clean your item rather than wash it, this is both beneficial for the environment, as well as your clothing.
- Do not tumble dry our products. Instead dry them out of direct sun, on a hanger or laid flat to help them keep their shape.
- In between washes you can refresh your clothing by hanging them up outside for an airing. There are also natural ‘refresher’ sprays on the market which can help to freshen up your clothing between washes. Follow the instructions on the label before using to ensure they are compatible with our clothing, we can’t take responsibility for any mishaps!
- Before they have been washed, some block printed fabrics - especially stronger colours - can transfer small amounts of dye to other surfaces and fabrics, be mindful of this. You may want to consider washing your garment before wearing it for the first time.
- If needed, iron inside out on a cool setting.
